The first day of the EnCycLEd workshop kicked off with energy, curiosity, and a shared ambition to strengthen cybersecurity awarenessin European schools. After a warm local welcome from Anamaria Magri Pantea from AscendConsulting.eu, and from the MCAST’s ICT Institute hostsLouis Aquilina and Conrad Vassallo, participants from across Europe connected through a lively icebreaker led by Oksana Z. from SET University, setting the tone for a collaborative and inspiring day. The morning sessions provided a deep dive into the heart of the EnCycLEdp roject: Anamaria introduced the platform’s structure and navigation, followed by Pavlo Burdiak, EnCycLEd’s Project Manager from the Universität Innsbruck, who unpacked the key insights from the project’s white paper on cybersecurity awareness in European schools. Anthi Psoma from the University of Macedonia, continued with an engaging walkthrough of the Personal Cybersecurity Assessment Tool, highlighting how students and teachers can evaluate and improve their digital safety practices. After a well-deserved coffee break, the group explored Careers and Study Pathways in the cybersecurity field, guided by AscendConsulting.eu, opening exciting perspectives for young learners. This was followed by interactive sessions on EnCycLEd Educational Modules1 and 2, delivered by Sebastian Harnisch, Annika Sachs and Elisabeth Burow from Universität Heidelberg, blending academic insight with practical classroom applications. The afternoon continued with fresh energy, thanks again to Oksana Z.‘s Energizer Activities. before diving into further aspects of theEnCycLEd‘s Educational Modules, offering teachers and students a solid framework to engage with cybersecurity challenges. Next, Anamaria guided participants through the EnCycLEdPlatform Resources Hub, Links, and Discussion Rooms, showcasing the depth of materials available to support educators across Europe.
Day 2 of theEnCycLEd InternationalTeachers Training Workshopbegan withUACS‘lessons from its piloting workshops, followed byHanna Martyniukpresenting the co-design approach for theEnCycLEdToolkit& Platform.
After that, the teachers of theAmerican Farm School and the Kyiv Vocational Schoolshared their experiences and contributions to better shape the usage of the project’s material, with all invited teachers from Austria,Ukraine,Greece,GermanyandMalta. The Career and Pathways Guidewas highlighted by Hanna Martyniuk (UACS), this time with specific insights related to the possible professions in this area. Christoph Schranz, from theUniversität Innsbruck, held a very useful session related to the legal boundaries applicable in the EU on how institutions can stay safe when dealing with the data in general. Ideas for peer to peer cross countryexchanges on theEnCycLEdPlatform were also discussed byAnamaria Magri Pantea(AscendConsulting.eu) andPavlo Burdiak(Universität Innsbruck). The importance of empowering students to act as multipliers on cybersecurity was presented byREACH Innovation, which also reinforced the importance of motivating teachers to share the platform and information about theEnCycLEdproject.Anthi Psomafrom theUniversity of Macedoniasuggested ideas to involve the students’ experience through the production ofpodcasts. UACSalso presented theEnCycLEd Piloting Guide, followed by a discussion among all participants on adapting timelines and roles per partner country. An open discussion, within the Cybersecurity Malta Stakeholders Panel, moderated byAnamaria Magri Panteawith invited professionals from Malta, including:Jean Marie Mifsud (PhD)–MDIAMalta Digital Innovation Authority,Ariane Bellizzi–MCA– Malta Communications Authority,Sevi Tuominenfrom Acceler8 / InnovaCyBridge Project,Katia Bonello–NCCMalta National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre, andFinian Massa, ICT Solutions Ltd). The discussions generated an interesting overview of the cybersecurity challengesin Malta and Worldwide. On the sequence, the workshop organized a World Café, the invited professionals from the stakeholders panel interacted with all other participants in small groups, within fruitful discussions of the Cybersecurity scenario in Education.
Day 2 ended with a glass of good Maltese wine. TheEnCycLEdteam was very happy to present its results to an engaged and professional audience!
